This in turn helps older adults maintain their independence and improve many other aspects of their wellness. Research has found that those who set goals and live they live longer, have a lower disease risk, sleep better, have better control of impulses, and maintain generally healthier behavior.The study was conducted by Harvard researchers T.H. Chan Public Health School; adults completed a survey on personal goals and purpose in life and completed a physical fitness test. 

The adults then returned four years later to perform the same survey and tests. Older adults who had a life purpose and personal goals had a lower probability of physical decline. Some adults with a high degree of goal even increased their walking speed when they were older.It can increase your overall meaning in life and weight loss by setting goals and personal relationships, focusing on new hobbies, volunteering and mindfulness.
